I've been studying the Spanish language for sometime now. There are many reasons for that. I am aiming to learn more languages in the future. Being multilingual (Arabic, English & now Spanish) has been an eye opener towards cultures and meeting people from around the world.
Spanish is the fourth most commonly spoken language in the world (after English, Chinese and Hindustani), and according to some counts it has more native speakers than English does. It is an official language on four continents and is of historical importance elsewhere.
I believe learning Spanish can give you a head start in learning the other Latin-based languages such as French and Italian. And it will even help you learn Russian and German, since they too have Indo-European roots and have some characteristics that are present in Spanish but not English. Furthermore, learning Spanish has even helped understand some Japanese & can even help with any other non-Indo-European language, since intensively learning the structure of a language can give you a reference point for learning others.
Spanish is one of the easiest foreign languages to learn. Much of its vocabulary is similar to English's, and written Spanish is almost completely phonetic: Look at almost any Spanish word and you can tell how it is pronounced. And while mastering the grammar of Spanish can be a challenge, basic grammar is straightforward enough that you can have meaningful communication after only a few lessons.

El Tepozteco is an Aztec archaeological site in the Mexican state of Morelos. The temple (or pyramid) overlooks the city of Tepoztlan, a town located south of Mexico City. A 2km hike to Tepozteco is probably one of the most rewarding experiences you will have on your journey in Mexico. The climb is steep and fairly strenuous, especially toward the end, although it is perfectly doable in a few hours and is not dangerous.
Yes, for some weird reason our pet cat name was "Saloom" which I agree is very weird. Regardless he was such a calm cat. Really miss those days.
Isla de Cozumel or also known in English as the "Island of the Swallows" is an island in the Caribbean Sea off the eastern coast of Mexico's Yucatan Peninsula, 10km opposite Playa del Carmen, and close to the Yucatan Channel. It is a perfect tourist destination with its beautiful beaches & coral reefs visited for scuba diving and snorkeling since the early 1960s.
Cozumel is slightly smaller than Bahrain. It is believed that it was inhabited by the Mayans as there are several temples across the island which were destroyed by the Spanish. The Spanish also transmitted the smallpox disease which killed most of the Mayans and turned Cozumel to nearly a deserted island only to be used as a hideout by pirates from time to time.
What mostly surprised me about Cozumel is that the 80,000 people have only tourism to depend on. What's worse is that they have to compete with the so called commercialized competition businesses such as Walmart.
While sailing back from Isla de Cozumel to Playa del Carmen saw this beautiful sunset.
Tulum a Mayan city/fort constructed shortly before the arrival of Europeans. El Castillo, the tower which dominates the area and is perched on the 12-meter cliff edge is one of the best-preserved coastal Mayan sites.
